Learning Center Mission: The library
provides a space for all students to study, conduct research,
and use computers for academic purposes. In order to fulfill
this purpose, the library must have an atmosphere that is conducive
to supporting the instructional program on campus. Students must
adhere to a code of conduct that allows for an orderly and respectful
environment. The following expectations are based on the principle
of respecting the rights of all students and faculty to have
a quiet place to engage in intellectual pursuits.
Expectations:
- All school rules and appropriate school
behavior will apply when using the library.
- Internet/Intranet Policy
Students may use computer resources in support of the educational
mission of Kamehameha Schools.
- Printing non-educational materials will
cost $.25 per page.
- Photocopying is available in the library
at $.10 per copy.
- The Copyright Designs & Patents
Act (CDPA) of 1988 permits "fair dealing" which allows
a single copy to be made for the purposes of research or private
study.
- Students may come to the library during
scheduled classes, space permitting. A pass signed by the classroom
teacher must be presented to Mrs. Kudo, Mrs. Bennett, or Mrs.
Wolff when entering the library. Teachers may call the library
instead of sending a pass.
Borrowing Policy:
- Student must have ID cards.
- A maximum of 5 items may be checked
out from the Learning Center at any time.
- Loan period
* 2 weeks for general collection
* 1 week for Hawaiian collection
Late fee assessment:
- * $.10 per day for each item borrowed
from the general collection
* $.50 per day for each item borrowed from the Hawaiian collection.
- * $1.00 per day for each item from the
DVD, CD, video collection.
- * $1.00 per day for each item from the
reference collection
* $2.00 per day for each item of vodeo camera & tripod (if
enrolled in class)
- Students will be notified by e-mail
when materials are overdue. Students will receive 2 e-mail reminders
before it becomes an obligation.
Lost Books:
- An overdue book will be considered lost
if not returned 30 days after the due date.
- Payment for lost books (cost is per
book)
* $15.00 + $5.00 service fee for paperback fiction book
* $25.00 + $5.00 service fee for general collection
* Must replace Hawaiian book OR replacement cost + $5.00 service
fee
*Service fee is not refundable.
Obligations: All obligations are to be paid at Keku'iapoiwa
Learning Center. Any outstanding obligations at the end of the
school year will be written up and the obligation will be attached
to the school bill.
Student Password : If students have fogotten their computer password,
they may come to the Learning Center to have their pasword reset.
Laptop borrowing policy
- Indemnity form needs to be completed.
(forms are available at the learning center).
- Must present ID
- Checkout only before school and lunch
recesses
- Check out for one or two days
- Check in done only before school
- Late fee: $2.00 per day
- Must clear late fee before borrowing
laptop
- If a student checks out a laptop and
it is found and returned by someone else, the student who borrowed
the laptop will not be able to check out a laptop for two weeks.
