Physical Education 1
Length / Credit: 1 semester / 0.5 credit (Fall Semester only)
Grade: Required for all Grade 9 students
The Freshman Physical Education program is a semester course. It is a graduation
requirement that all freshmen must fulfill. (Fall Semester only)
You will...
- evaluate personal performance on health-fitness
- demonstrate ways to improve personal fitness levels
- assume responsibility for your own learning and will be assessed on your ability to apply the information and skill(s) you have learned.
Supplementary handouts help enhance the course. The delivery of the course material is done through the use of mini-lessons, physical activity, group discussions, and through personal reflection.
The culminating event for this course is the annual Freshman Run . This year's Freshman Run is scheduled for Monday, December 8, 2008, and will be five miles in length. In conclusion, the course has been designed to serve as a base in understanding the importance of physical fitness and cardiovascular exercise.

Length / Credit: 1 semester / 0.5 credit

This course is designed to develop dynamic strength and power necessary
to compete at a high level of physical output. Skill development, agility,
balance, and coordination will be emphasized regularly.

Personal Fitness Training
Length/Credit: 1 Semester / .5 credit (Semester 2 only)
Grade(s): Required of all Grade 11 students
Prerequisites: Successful completion of PE 2, first semester of Grade 10
This course will help prepare juniors for their culminating event –a triathlon. Training program to include time spent swimming, biking, and running. Sports activities may be used to supplement aerobic conditioning.
