Teacher and Course Information

Mrs. Cyndi Bartels

Although I spent most of my life in Central Florida, my family and I chose to make Hawai`i Island our home in 2004. My mother is from Kapoho Village and it only seemed natural to settle in the same general area.

Yearbook is a yearlong course designed to produce the school yearbook and provide a base for journalistic writing and photojournalism. Staff members will study an apply skills in writing, analyzing, communicating, and leadership. Students will apply these skills to plan, develop, and distribute the yearbook for the entire school community.

Visual Arts Senior Seminar a semester long, self directed course designed to assist seniors in designing, creating, and presenting their senior legacy project in the visual arts.

Instructors Philosophy of Education

My philosophy of education is very simple: It is OK to have fun while learning. Students not only need to see and hear information, they need to apply what they learn to create their own art, and appreciate what they have made or seen.
