Ms.
Nanea Nahuina
Student Records Coordinator
Aloha, my name is Erin Nanea Nahuina and I’m the Student Records Coordinator
for Kamehameha Schools Hawaii.
I was born and raised in Honolulu on the island of Oahu. I have ‘ohana living in Kona, Waikoloa, Kawaihae, and roots that run deep in Kohala, so the Big Island has always been a special place for me.
My father and sister, like me, are lucky enough to be alumni of Kamehameha Schools. My father is a member of the class of 1953 and my sister the class of 1986. As you can see, Kamehameha Schools has been a big part of my life as I’ve gone from student, to alumnus to staff member.
My home has been niece-a-sized with children’s toys and little rubber boots for my three nieces who are all under the age of 8 and who live in Kona with my sister and her husband who are both teachers at Kealakehe Intermediate.
As you can tell, my ‘ohana means a lot to me!

I have worn many hats in the 5 years that I have worked at the Hawaii campus.
I was fortunate to assist with the opening of the High School in 2002, and
as we have rolled out I was able to relinquish some of those hats to very
capable individuals. At present, my major job responsibilities include,
but aren’t limited to:
• Coordinating, maintaining and updating student records in the student
database system for grades K-12
• Keeping track of student enrollment for grades K-12
• Processing grades and report cards for grades 6-12
• Assisting with course registration for grades 9-12
• Building the High School master schedule and student schedules for
grades 9-12
• Processing transcripts for scholarships, colleges, and universities
for currently enrolled students and graduates
• Serving as a contact person to assist with educational data reporting
needs for school personnel and various Kamehameha Schools’ departments

I enjoy watching movies, learning all kinds of crafts and traveling (cruise ships are the best!) I would especially like to travel to Aotearoa (New Zealand) to finish the Polynesian Triangle as I’ve already been to the hardest corner, Rapa Nui (Easter Island).

I feel we all have special talents and I think through education we can discover them and help them flourish. I also believe that along with academics, life skills that will help our students beyond Kamehameha Schools are also crucial. I feel a person’s ‘Ano is very important as “a man’s character is his fate” (Heraclitus) or destiny.
One of my favorite quotes is from Ralph Waldo Emerson and it always reminds me that within us lies the strength to do, and become, anything we want. The choice is ours to make.
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared
to what lies within us.”
