Kamehameha High School - Administration

WHY KS HAWAI`I?

As principal, I am often approached by people outside of our Kamehameha Schools (KS) ohana and asked the question “Why should we consider sending our child to Kamehameha?”


With great humility and genuine aloha, my response is that KS Hawai`i is a vibrant and thriving educational institution that provides exceptional education and services to our islands Hawaiian children.

Our motto, “Kids First”, has been a long standing commitment to our students and to their success.  KS faculty and staff are hard working, knowledgeable, and caring professionals.  Our mission is very clear to “to fulfill Princess Pauahi’s desire to create educational opportunities into perpetuity to improve the capability and well-being of people of Hawaiian ancestry."  Through hard work and caring hearts, we are able to pull together to provide an exceptional education for your child.

According to results taken from our student and parent satisfaction surveys, our school is a safe and nurturing learning environment.  In the past two years, 98% of our graduates were accepted and enrolled in higher education institutions, both locally and nationally, thanks to our students, their parents, our faculty, and our staff.

Weaved throughout the KS experience is the spirit and appreciation we feel toward Ke Akua and our beloved founder, Ke Ali`i Bernice Pauahi.  What makes this experience even more profound is our special bond as family through our ancestors and our culture, we can proudly say, “We are Hawaiian."

In closing, I share with you that we are not a perfect school.  We continue to search for new and better ways to instruct, to learn, and to service our students and our families.  We recognize that it takes all of us to support this special mission; therefore, when I am asked, “Why Kamehameha?” I know deep inside, “Why Not?”
