• A greenhouse will be part of the resources available in the 2007-08
school year.
• The Science and Natural Resources academy has established many partnerships
with County, State, and Federal Government agencies who provide speakers,
shadowing, and mentorship opportunities to our students.
• Students and classes are allowed to work on projects that benefit
Kamehameha Schools Hawai`i and the broader Hawaiian community.

• Interdisciplinary field trips that complement the academy team’s
goals.
• Job shadowing and mentoring with experts in the fields of science
and natural resources.
• Creating and completing Senior Legacy projects that allow students
to learn and share their independent research.
• Mohala Lecture Series affords students an opportunity to share with
student peers, faculty, and staff any science based projects they may have
participated in or are currently investigating during a once a month lunch
lecture. Everyone is invited to join us. This year’s lecture series
schedule will be posted soon.
• Pinning and recognition ceremony for students who get endorsed in
the academy at the end of the school year.

Overview:
The Academy of Science and Natural Resources enables students to explore learning opportunities and interact with professionals in the fields of:
- Human and Cultural Environment
- Natural Resource Management
- Specialized Sciences
Service Learning Component:
All students will give back to their communities through a service learning project. Projects SNR has completed in the past include:
- Keauhou Ranch- Koa reforestation project
- Kaho`olawe – PKO Access, pili grass roof thatching, water catchments system.
- Punalu’u- Rotating academic stations, beach clean up, park pavilion painting, culture and history of Ka`u, and grounds clean up.
- Lapakahi State Pak-
- Mapping trail distances (math).
- Wiliwili seed collections and locations with GPS system (science).
- Koa haole eradication.
- Kupuna talk story about this special wahi pana.
