Work based Learning: Internships
Internships represent a work based learning activity where students actually work in a particular occupational area for a minimum of 60 hours. In '06-'07, KS Hawai'i juniors enrolled in a 0.5 credit semester Internship course.
Annual Hightlights
This past summer 26 students are spending 60 hours with various businesses on the Big Island. Some of the sites include:
- KS Summer School,
- Hawaii Radiological,
- Merriman's Restaurant,
- Instant Sign Center,
- Pacific Radio Group
- University of Hawaii - Hilo Anthropology Lab
Our Goal for Next School Year
Our goal for next year includes increasing intern opportunities
by placing juniors in job shadows at the start of the school year, so internships
can follow during Christmas break and after school, as well as during Summers.
