Aloha Kakou!
A warm aloha to our students and their ohana into the Engineering and Design Academy.
As your teachers, we have 50 years of teaching experience, including teaching
at Kamehameha Schools Kapālama and Hawai`i. We also have experience
outside of education in the fields of engineering, construction, architecture,
travel service industry, publishing, public service, film, and small busines.
We grew up on O`ahu, as well as in the states of California, Washington
and the country of Norway. Two of us are Kamehameha graduates.
In addition to teaching, we have many other kuleana at the school, including
career guidance and counseling of academy students, coaching, club advising,
and professional mentoring. We are working to create a dynamic learning
environment that prepares our students for the expectations and challenges
after high school. Our academy curriculum is based on real-life experiences.
Ke Ali`i Bernice Pauahi Bishop`s mission “"to educate children
and youth of Hawaiian ancestry to become good and industrious men and women"”
is our guiding beacon. We invite students and their ‘ohana to continue
with us on this journey toward guided learning and living.
We look forward to building our present and future together.
I mua, Kamehameha.
