Aloha kakou e na haumana a me ka `ohana `o Kamehameha!
We are writing this letter to you to officially introduce ourselves as your child’s Sophomore Leadership Team. All members of this team are teachers here at the Hawaii Campus who will work together in the best interest of our students and their families to perpetuate the vision and Will of Ke Alii Bernice Pauahi Bishop. As your children venture through the next three years of their high school career, we would like to extend our vision and desire to ensure positive, intriguing, and successful learning environments as well as life enhancing academic and personal experiences. We have high expectations of ourselves as well as our students and their families.
Collectively, we have 152 years of classroom teaching experience at all levels [elementary, middle, high school & college]. One of us graduated from Kamehameha, while the rest of our team succeeded at statewide high school institutions such as Niagra Wheatfield, Northmont, Santa Luces, Maryknoll, Hilo High, Pähoa High, and Ka’ü High. Together we have successfully acquired 25 degrees and have attended such colleges as UH Hilo, U.H. Mänoa, Hawai’i Community College, Santa Rosa Junior College, University of Oregon, Maui Community College, University of Colorado, Metropolitan State College, University of Miami, Palm Beach Community College, Florida Atlantic University, UCLA, Pepperdine and National University.
At some time in our lives we all have ventured down paths other than teaching. Our life experiences have given us opportunities to work in such areas such as stock broking/financial planning, bookkeeping, science research, music performance, food service, medical assisting, legal assisting, and retail.
Between the 12 of us we are the parents of eleven children, and two grandchildren. We are not ‘just teachers’. We love to spend our time engaging in activities such as sewing, digital photography, music, running, landscaping, various water sports, ikebana, singing in church, hiking, reading, and various other activities.
We are your child’s teachers. We are committed to giving your children all that they need in order to enhance their life experiences without regret. Each day is a gift and we will be there, along with you, to ensure that every day is cherished and valued.
We will be in a position to get to know your child, and we would love an opportunity to get to know you as well. Our team is asking for your support and commitment to your child’s success and happiness here at Kamehameha Schools, Hawaii Campus.
To your right, you will find contact information for each of us. Please feel free to contact any one of us if we can be of any assistance to you and your child.
Mahalo nui loa~
Sophomore Leadership Team
